As Election Day approaches November 8th, some people out there may still be indecisive about who to vote for. Well, some of today’s most influential musicians are out on the campaign trail trying to help millennials with their final decision. The hip hop community is vocalizing their opinion about voting. Making sure young people get out and vote. Hip hop power couple Jay-Z and Beyonce headlined a Hillary Clinton concert on Friday November 4th, not only confirming their support for the Democratic candidate, but also promoting the idea of voting to the millennial generation. Hip hop superstars Chance the Rapper, J Cole and Big Sean also joined the power couple for this memorable concert and also an official Tidal Voting PSA. According to Billboard.com, Beyonce performed some of her greatest hits, with a LED screen behind her that read “I’m With Her”. The pop superstar said to the large crowd of excited fans “Look how far we’ve come from having no voice to being on the brink of making history, I want my daughter to grow up seeing a woman lead our country and know that her possibilities are limitless.” On the eve of the election, Beyonce and Jay Z have released an official PSA on their music streaming site Tidal in support of Hillary Clinton. Chance the Rapper said a few encouraging words to fans in the PSA, he said “She’s running this battle right now. She’s killing this race, but she needs our help.” Big Sean also shared some insightful words with the crowd during the Clinton Support Concert, he said “Everybody in this crowd, man, we got the power to do anything we wanna do. If you could put your mind to it, you can manifest it.” Also, during Hillary’s rally in North Carolina, hip hop artist/producer Pharrell joined Clinton during her campaign rally in Raleigh, N.C. Pharrell spoke out on why voters should support and vote for Hillary Clinton. The legendary producer spoke about the importance of voting during an interview at Variety’s Inclusion Summit in Beverly Hills, he said “If all women in this nation decided to vote and support the first female candidate, there’d be nothing to worry about, it’s that easy.” Pharrell also shared this perspective “Has she been dishonest about things? Sure. Have you?” the musician also added “She don’t lie no more than any other politician does.” Pharrell also said “I’m praying that women come together and save this nation. You think about the destructive things that have come from mankind, it’s mostly men.” Election day is very important, but this election truly stands out. This country can either experience the first female president, or experience an inexperienced president who probably didn’t think he would make it this far. America has witnessed our first African American president. We’ve made history, believing in someone’s leadership abilities and voting based off of professionalism and qualification, not skin color or creed. President Obama was voted in because he was truly fit to lead our nation, and America was ready for diversity. Why backtrack after such a historic milestone? Voting Donald Trump in is basically a slap in the face toward our progress as a country. Going from a black president, to a racist one is not the way to make America great. What do Trump supporters mean when they say “Make America Great Again”? Something about the slogan “Make America Great Again” is unsettling, it’s basically saying make America white again, make America’s leader a Caucasian male. America has revealed it’s ability to embrace change. If your indecisive about who to vote for, ask yourself this…who’s truly qualified to do the job? If your saying to yourself “Oh I don’t want to vote”, remember you have a voice. The voting process is not extremely long, every vote counts. I think it’s time a woman leads this country. Hillary Clinton is not only qualified for the job, but Hillary is also the true definition of badass! As Beyonce says, “Who run the world? Girls!”. Tomorrow, November 8th go out and vote. Remember, you can’t complain if you don’t vote.
