We saw her as the cute, energetic girl on Dance Moms. She strutted her stuff on all our favorite Sia music videos. Now, Maddie Ziegler, 13, will be on the show So You Think You Can Dance, but not as a contestant, but as a judge.

But, of course, we already know Ziegler can dance. She performs with emotion and maturity far beyond her years, so it totally makes sense for her to join Nigel Lythgoe, Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo on the judging panel. This is a timely action to make since this season of SYTYCD will be centered on young dancers. Last season, they mixed up their regular format by dividing the dancers into two teams: Street vs. Stage. Now they’re mixing things up again. The contestants this season will all be between the ages of 8 and 13.
Some SYTYCD alumni from the previous season will return, paired with contestants of the new season. The newly formatted show will be called So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation.
So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation is set to premiere on Monday, May 30 on Fox
Ziegler is a perfect choice for a judging role. At only 13, she’s already one of the best known dancers in the world. Congrats girl! I can’t wait to tune in!
